if you know what this is

you once wore metal roller skates with adjustable clamps that gripped the sides of your PF flyers. Of course, you needed a key to get them on and off.

Who would have guessed that something so benign and ubiquitous years ago would come to be this strange and vaguely sinister looking object? (Thanks, Terri, for the memory.)

And how many folks know what a church key is? Or remember the little key that came with the tin of potted meat?

Church key, yes! I always wondered how a can opener got that name. And, oh the feeling of competence it gave me as a kid to roll off the lid of a tin. What pop top kids missed.

Off topic, but the Underwood Deviled Ham commercial was no where to be found.

Sure do! I lived in Stuyvesant Town in the 50's, which had the smoothest paving and no sidewalk cracks. It was heaven for skaters. "Hey mom,I need my skate key!!"

That makes me remember that was the first 45 I bought. By the 1HW artist, Melanie. Excuse me, I have to google my route past your house.
